Welcome to Classical Guitar SA

I have tried to bring together some of best classical guitar music, lessons and articles available from around the world.  My aim is to provide a one-stop go-to site for amateur classical guitarists both in South Africa and abroad. Please look around and feel free to contact me with any queries or observations. If you have material to contribute I would be delighted to consider publishing it on this site.

Why this website?

Why this website?

After returning to classical guitar in early 2015 after a layoff of nearly four decades I found that it was challenging to find  quality articles, lessons, videos, sheet music and so on. This information is all over the internet but I had to be selective and build up a collection over time.

So, I decided to create a site aimed at serving South African classical guitar enthusiasts, like myself. I have chosen to structure this site in an innovative way from a player’s perspective.

I have designed the main sections to meet the needs of Basic, Transitional, and Intermediate players.

In each section, you will find appropriate lists of graded pieces, music scores, videos, technical lessons, and articles of interest.

Throughout the site, I have linked to the sources of the material and in addition, I have provided a list of the sites that I recommend .

I will be constantly updating and adding to this site and I hope that you too will submit articles, videos and other items of interest. I want this site to become the go-to location for classical guitar enthusiast all over our country, but I am sure that international visitors will also find much of interest.

About (who I am)

Who I am

Dr. Christopher Peppler portraitMy name is Christopher Peppler and was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1947. I worked in the banking industry for over 20 years and then pastored the Lonehill Village Church in Sandton for another 30 years. In 1996 I founded the South African Theological Seminary and although I am now retired I am still on the academic faculty.

I am a passionate champion of the Christocentric (Jesus-centred) Principle, which is an approach to biblical interpretation and theological construction that emphasises the centrality of Jesus.

I am a husband, father and grandfather and so I spend quite a bit of my time with my family. I am also still involved in the life of the local church, particularly in preaching and mentoring. In addition to this, I have a site called Truth is The Word where I post every week and which acts as a repository for the books, articles, and sermons I have produced over the years.

I am a classical guitar enthusiast and play every day. In 2015 I built my own instrument under the teaching and supervision of a master craftsman located in George. I also own and play a 1970 Yairi 700 and a Yamaha NCX900FM.
